Description

The Macintosh Portable was Apple’s first portable Macintosh computer. It was released years before the Apple PowerBook and is in a lug-able form factor. If in a working state, these can be wanted by collectors.

Two models were released, one included a non-backlight screen (similar to a calculator screen), and the later model had a backlight screen (similar to modern LCD TV screens).

The non-backlight screen model is M5120. The price range, in fully good working order can be $300-400.
The backlight screen model is M5126. The price range in fully good working order can be $700-800.

Both prices assume the machine will fully power on, includes the original battery and original power cable.

These models can command a high price if fully working. Unfortunately, many of these models suffer from multiple issues which will need extensive repair. These units should NEVER be powered on without the battery, it could cause damage to the machine. This machine should also NEVER be powered on with a PowerBook power cord, or a cord that did not ship with the product.

Repairs can be expensive and sometimes not successful for either of these models. They can be worth half of the above price if they are not fully working. These are not simple repairs!
